So I am in the process of rebuilding my carbs, I have come across an variance between the two and I am not sure which is correct
circled in yellow are the ports on the bottom of the carbs, one is closed off and one is open....I assume they both need to be close but I
am looking for someone to verify this point for me.
I hope you are a machinist as your avatar?
The plugs are not available so you'll have to make one.
The hole is part of the fuel bypass system, must be running real lean that side and idle is going to be 'strange' at best
Plug only seals outside, has to be a passage under it
PJ- I am a machinist so the plug will not be an issue, what do you mean that there needs to be a passage underneath? I see there are three pin hole under there, do I need to machine a relief in my plug or can I just butt it up against said holes? I planned on sealing the plug from fthe outside and not putting any adhesive in between if that is what you meant.
Funny you mention idle, I got the bike running with around 135 psi in each cylinder but I could not get this sucker to idle worth a crap, I also had a super lean plug on one side, further investigation leads to a cracked float bowl drain (on the same lean cylinder) so I thought I had found my issue. Luckily since the compression was really borderline at best I tore the bike completly down , and that is when I found the missing plug in the carb. Patients pays off big time.
The 'pin holes' are air/fuel discharge ports.
They get indirectly 'fed' from pilot jet so there needs to be a space for flow.
Should be a 'lip' to stop plug bottoming out?
cool stuff, where do you get 7/8" tube for handlebars?

PJ- Great info on the carbs, you are saving me some ass pain of trouble shooting down the road.
I will make sure to turn the plug to the .i.d of the portion before the lip.
