Had tk-421 out today after getting a new seat cushion and replacing the old levers. She was acting up though. Starting from a dead stop she was "clunky" (sometimes an audible thunk). This was for faster starts. A sloooow smooth start didn't seem to give the problem. Suggestions?
Then at about 5500-6000 rpm she was surging a very little bit. Not enough to tell how much in the tach but I could feel it. Dunno if this is a jetting issue or wtf.
Lastly the front brake now sticks. It didn't before I replaced lever but it does now. I'm suspecting that a little lube will kill that (Sunday evening I don't have any and everything is closed).
If it matters I changed the oil just before the ride. Using motul 10-40.
Afterthought: when I changed the oil I didn't get a full two quarts out. Bout 1 3/4. Maybe a lil more. Over filled perhaps?
When I check oil can bike be on kickstand or should it be upright for best accuracy? Upright oil was a little over top line. It's my current suspicion.
Looked in a different manual (owners as opposed to shop). OM says to add 1.9 qts. So I pulled the plug and added 1.5 and then slowly kept adding and checking till I was dead even between the low and high marks. A short test drive around the block and it seems the clunky start is cured, but I don't want to be too opitimistic without a longer test drive.
