I can't figure it out. I am a noob so how can I? First off it is a 73 cl350 it is very hard starting, kick starter is not working anymore not sure why. When I get it running only one pipe gets hot the other gets warm. I pulled the right spark plug wire off and it stayed running, I then pulled the left off and it died. Not sure if because the right side wasn't sparking the kick starter stopped working. Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou
You say that the kick starter isnt working. You arnt by any chance holding in the clutch while you kick it are you? My buddy was doing that with his until i pointed out his error. Also check for spark on the non running cylender. Take the plug out and rest it againt the engine. Hit the started button and see if you get any little sparkes coing off of it. If you have no spark,
1. make sure the plug is clean and gapped correctly
2. open up the points cover and clean between the points. i used fine grit sand paper for this
3. make sure that you are getting power to both coils.
if you have spark
Take the carbs apart and clean them
put it back together and ride into the sunset!
Those bikes are bullet proof. I followed these steps and got one going that had sat for 6 years in a shed.
Gosh that funny you say that....don't hold in the clutch. I tried that hoping it might work. Ha Ha! Of course it didn't and it darn near just fell to the floor. I will try these steps this weekend. Thankyou!
I had exactly the same problem. Check that both plugs are firing then check that they are timed properly. I bought a CB350 lately that had both sparks timed to go off on the LF mark (well, it was closer to the LF than the F). When I did a static retime the right cylinder started running and had good exhaust pulses compared to the left.
And then on the other hand, there are a whole shitpot of things associated with the right cylinder but not the left that can cause the same symptom. Isolate each of them, one at a time untill you find the one that starts the right cylinder running.
