cl350 spitting water on idle

My cl350 is in rough and dire shape, and has been for awhile now.
When idling, the right cylinder will spit water (that smells slightly of gas) from the muffler.
Everything I've read on the issue suggests this is a rich running condition, and it would seem so - the right pipe has started to turn color.
My compression numbers are both 170psi on each side, the timing is in check, and the valves are adjusted.
I attempted to sync the carbs. (work in progress, aha. Uni-Sync in mail)
My question is this - both carbs are set to 1 1/8th on the air/fuel mix. Why is the right cylinder running much hotter than the other and spraying water out the pipe?
The cylinder is also smoky when I pull the plug - and only on that side. Upon revving it shoots white smoke and spits gas.
Someone please convince me not to rip the carbs out and swap in vm30s, I'm at my wits end.

Lean carbs run hot, not rich carbs. You might have some condensation in your pipe that is coming out when you first start, and if it goes away I wouldn't worry too much. But if it is when the bike's warm and has been operating for a while, that ain't water.

Yeahhh, I mean.. that's definately not condensation. I could hold a glass under the muffler and probably fill it up with water in 10 minutes. It spits whatever it is our redardless of whether it's warm or cold. But, If the pipes are turning color due to it running lean - why are the new plugs blackened when I pull them out?

Where was the kit from and did you completely disassemble and clean them?

If the diaphrams(which dont come in kits)have pinholes you could be rich at idle and lean underthrottle.

Carbs were completely disassembled and soaked in Berryman chem dip.
The kit I used was here: http://4into1.com/keyster-deluxe-carburetor-rebuild-kit-honda-cb350-cl350-twins-1970-1973/
With stock jetting: Main Primary #70, Main Secondary #105, and Slow Jet #35

Now there's an idea! I'll pull the carbs off the bike tomorrow and take a look at the diaphrams. Is there anyway I can test for pinholes?

After removal take a bright light and shine it on the backside. Look at the opposite side of the diaphram for holes/rips.

Take the carbs back apart and remove ALL the jets and needles that came in the kits. Put the original parts back in. Unless someone before you got in there and replaced the factory parts with non factory parts (or incorrect factory parts) or damaged the original parts somehow, the factory parts will be superior and be a much better starting place for troubleshooting. It is extremely rare for any of the OEM jets or needles to be worn or bad simply from use. Most of the carb trouble I see is either "kit" replacement parts or lack of cleaning - very often "expertly/professionally/ultrasonically - whatever" so that can't be the problem. You can soak the bodies in god's own miracle solvent for a year and then ultrasonically clean them in the devil's own lab for another year and there is no certainty whatever that they will even be improved, much less actually clean. It is simply not possible to produce the volumes of water you describe from the chemical reaction at work here, so something else is afoot as far as the water is concerned. New diaphragms are a good idea, but you should be able to determine if yours are ok. Also, check their installation super carefully as some can be fussy to get in properly. Otherwise look for air leaks from anywhere.

How old's the fuel? ??? were it come from ? an ole can back of the shed ??? get some decent fresh quality fuel connect to ya carbs or refill ya tank if its ok inside ,do all the usual checks fire her up see if theres any difference :-\ just an idea ;)
