CL350 Stock Air Cleaner Replacement

Been around the world with mods and jetting/re-jetting, fixing problems. The only mod I've made so far that has been worth it has been an electronic ignition. Long story short, went back to rebuilt stock CV carbs instead of Mikunis. Already running better. Now I'm going back to stock air cleaners.

I need to know if the paper filter can be replaced on the air cleaners, or do I need to buy the whole set that has the metal sides and flange. A new set is running about $100.

I still have the old filters, but the paper is beyond recovery as far as being cleaned. Has anybody just replaced the paper before? If so, where the hell do I source the paper?

Yes, I've seen a tutorial on how to replace the paper. Just dig out the old paper but the glue is super tough to chip out. Just buy any paper element from Autozone or Pep Boys and trim to size then seal with silicone.
