CL350 TYPE 1 TRACK BIKE; NOW RUNS!

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Thanks DB, I will order them now!

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Just bought a lot of goodies from DCC. Waffle grips with the throttle assembly, clutch and brake cables, and brake and clutch controls. My clip-ons should be here tomorrow! I just need to buy the coils and finish the ignition wiring harness and I should be running!

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Connector kit arrived, clip ons installed, battery tray built by Josh, and wiring should be done sometime tonight. Oh and did I forget to mention that I bought some coils!!! The bike is really coming together. I can wait to get the tray, so probably an update tonight. Anyways here are some pics of a few thinks that came...

@mikesquare, yes it is. I have a very limited budget. Sorry, my new race harness is done though. Should be running with some gas and points set.

Re: Honda CL350 Cafe, close to running!

Ah shit, they very well could be. Oh well I raised them up and they have a nice ride feel to them lol!

Re: CL350 TYPE 1TRACK BIKE; NOW RUNS!

Re: CL350 TYPE 1TRACK BIKE; NOW RUNS!

Not sure what battery you ended up fitting but I would not recommend a Shorai or other Lithium based battery. There's nothing wrong with them but they do seem to prefer a more regulated voltage than we tend to have with our old bikes. Newer bikes seem to do OK but older ones seem to cook those things.

I'd fit a 7 amp hour AGM sealed battery. It should be both big enough to do the job and small enough to hide. The Goldilocks of batteries. I think they are a YTZ7S YTZ7L is the same thing but taller.

Re: CL350 TYPE 1TRACK BIKE; NOW RUNS!

BTW, what are the carbs? They look like PW24 Keihins from an SL350.

Re: CL350 TYPE 1TRACK BIKE; NOW RUNS!

@teazer oh, I searched for the correct replacement for my bike on their website. No biggie I'll check it out. Right now I just have a 12v power supply to it. And the carbs are mikuni vm30's.

I know I am dragging my feet here, I am sorry about that. It's just the same issue as always... Budget. But the new plan is to buy a set of "the coveted" VM32's from DCC that are a direct swap. I may as well not cut corners and get the realy carbs for this bike. I need to finer tune my points, and get some gasket silicone for my weeping stator cover.

Jared, VM32's will be way too big for your bike. There was a thread by DJElliot about how even VM30's gave him fits on his 350. Might want to find that thread and check it out.

Rich is right, in fact on these engines I was out for a 26 - 28mm; I only got VM30's because I couldn't find a cheap set of the others..
The VM30's seem to be much more common.

IF memory serves me well, CrazyPJ has utilized some 22mm's, and well.

Where did you get those Mikuni's from? they Look to be the knock-off versions.. Due to those flanges.
But that doesn't matter, they just need to work, and you seem to be in the right direction. I was going to try those out myself, but I'm a wuss.

I know it's running on one cylinder. My right point isn't set correctly. As for the carb thing, I incorrectly said VM32, I have seen VM30's used and they appear to work after some tweaking and rejetting. Yes the carbs are knock-offs. I bought them so I could get my bike running, but I am going to be swapping to DCC's bolt on kit.
