cl360 fork spring stiffening

Hi Guys,

Has anyone inserted pvc spacers in their cl/cb 360 forks to stiffen the springs?
If so, what size diameter and length did you use please.

Thanks in advance! -D

experiment it is a simple concept
get the front wheell off the ground fist thing so the caps come off easiest
a 1/2" drive speed wrench and socket works great once you break the caps loose
try spacers in 1/2"-1/4" increments maybe go a full 1" at first try if they are way soft

Good advise from xb. Wanted to add that the only concern with adding longer spacers is that it is possible to cause the travel to become limited by the spring. It isn't too likely unless you experience the suspension bottoming out now because it is that soft. If that is the case, you might want to consider going to some stiffer springs as you can only preload them so far. Also, remember that the pinch bolts that clamp the upper triple tree the the fork tubes needs to be loose, or you may never get the caps off! The caps also don't need to be all that tight when you put them back on. The o-ring does all the sealing, so just snug them up and then tighten the pinch bolts.

another thought is to run heavier fork oil while doing what xb says. I did that recently on a cb175 paired with cb360 rear shocks and WHAT A DIFFERENCE.

It's a technical detail, but adding a spacer doesn't change the stiffness, only the preload. If you want to change the stiffness, you need to add a spacer as well as cutting the spring.

Cut at least an inch off the 'open' end of coils so you still have the progressive feature of the close wound end then fit a 1-1/2" spacer to start off(stiffer spring with less working coils but only 1/2" extra pre-load on 'soft' coils)
