They look like valves seals, but not like the ones from a CB450 twin.

They are not from a CB450 that I know. Where did you get them?

This is a CL 450 1972. They came from inside the engine somewhere. i know it sounds dumb, but I had them all lined up to go go in, but i took this thing apart 4 months ago and have two other projects ont he go.. sorta confused i guess

Those are the same style as in the 80's models, completely different in every way except designation

So you are telling me they came from this motor when you dismantled it? Or you bought them for this motor along time ago? Because I agree with FingerBanger, they are not from a CL or CB450 twin '60-70s.

Yeah i am familiar with 198's 450's. I had a 1982 CM450 teh same bike Prince rode in Purple Rain but mine had a 6 speed manual not the Hondamatic his had, i also had a custom diamond stitched seat and 30" sissy bar.

still doesn't help me with the seals......

Well we are telling you those seals you posted in the pic are not for the CL/CB450 thats described in the manual you posted. You may have forgot them when you rebuilt the '80s 450 and by accident dropped them in the box of stuff for the older 450.

If you are telling me that those pieces in your pic came out of motor thats been running then I want to know how you cleaned them that well, because they look brand new. Now if they did come from inside the CL/CB450 then they were wrongfully installed by a previous owner as replacement valve seals. Refer to the link to DC for the right valve seals for your model.

What I AM saying is that those are the seals for an 80's 450. The PO must have purchased and put in the wrong ones. I've seen it done before, in one of the 4 450's that I own and built. They just pop them on top of the retainer and original valve stem seal.

Just order the right ones and throw those out and all will be solved.

Pretty sure we ran the incorrect seals on my 450, which is now again dismantled because of a damaged valve stem as a result of a small piece of somethin' that passed by the valve seal and caused a burr on the stem...which resulted in the valve having to be forcibly removed via hammer... looks like i'll be ordering some new seals as well.

The link to Dime City I posted on page one will get you the right valve seals, cheers!
