CL450 Shifting Problems

Hey guys I have a 71 CL450 and I currently have it all apart in my garage. Before I decided to restore the bike it I was having difficulty shifting (I had to basically force it into each gear) I was curious what you guys thought the problem could be from, I wanted to try and fix any issues with it while I have it apart. :-*

Is the circlip and washer still on the shift rod? It is located on the shift rod under the front sprocket cover against the case.

I believe so, I circled it in blue here. If thats what you're talking about.

That is where it goes. Without cleaning it up and really looking for it it is hard to say if it is there or not.

I haven't adjusted anything yet. All ive done is take it apart because I was having trouble shifting it felt like the gears would get stuck and I'd have to almost force it into gear.

Spend some time at hondatwins.net - great resource for your bike. You need to perform a clutch adjustment, i'd wager.

Check shift forks. I had a cl450 that bent the forks a couple times, and it was very hard to shift.
