CL450 Top End Rebuild?

It has been some time since my last post, mainly due to being busy with school. I have(very slowly), taken apart my motor to replace the piston rings. I also replaced the cam chain and the rollers that sit next to the sprocket on the exhaust side. My question now is that, when I reinstall the cam and set the timing, is there any adjustment to the torison bar that sits behind the cam, or is it just simply setting the cams and the pistons to the appropriate position.
Any advice is appreciated!

The torsion bar adjustment you will do will be to set the valve clearances. If you have gotten this far I imagine you have a manual or access to similar information. You will just need to adjust the valve clearances as you normally would during a tune up before starting the engine.

Did you by chance get the valve seats recut or did you just clean them up?

Flugtechnik thanks for the response. I just cleaned them up. So if they would just need the same process as tuning, I will simply replace the cam and line it up and then adjust the valves after correct?

Yes sir. Positioning the cams for proper timing can be a bit tricky so double check your work before moving on. Also don't forget to check cam side to side clearance to the bushings they spin in. New gaskets under the cam covers/bushings can change it.

I was asking about the valve seats because if they are recut, the valves sit slightly higher in the head and then you cannot adjust the clearance correctly. The geometry of this head doesn't leave much tolerance for changes. The solution is to shorten the valves the same amount as the recut depth. Found that out the hard way.

Just a side note, but did you label the torsion springs? If you put them in the wrong way, they can break when they twist. That's no good.

Springs should have A and B markings on them, Each CAM gets an A and B. I had a picture of it somewhere but cant find it, I know the ordering starting from the LEFT Exhaust and going around the head clockwise is A-B A -B looking down at the top of the head.

IF you have the springs with arrows, the arrows point UP.

Don't necessarily have to go back in the same place so long as they go back in the right order.

Cool, thank's guys!
I've gotten the exhaust side back together and lined up, gonna try and finish the intake side today once I get home from school.
