Clean, simple, straight forward cb400 build.

Yamatech

Two wheels, one love.
First off, I'm a new "ish" member and you guys have helped me in ways I couldnt imagine. Now I'm hooked on reading about and seeing everyones different methods of doing things and then finally enjoying the final outcome. Thats what it's all about guys, being on two wheels and that cheesy grin you get on your face while rolling back the throttle on your own work of art.
Anyways, I recently bought a 1981 cb400t but not a in stock form. Some might call it ugly....I did too, but definitely fun to bob around town on. I wanted to do something simple and that didnt take too much time to complete. Paint of course, rebuild basic components, fix the electrical nightmare, simplify, simplify simplify. Nothing fancy here guys just thought I'd share my first build and put my name out there. The technical aspect of bikes is my background, not exactly brilliant with metal working and what not so my designs are limited and completely open to suggestions.

The day I brought it home

Tear down day. A nice long night of demolition, good tunes and nice smoke does a mind good. Notice the nicely done wiring and large hunks of metal for rear shocks.

Sweet weld job on the rear fender, held on by allen wrenches. Oh and the race inspired airbox makes this thing a fire breather. Testing out some colors on the tank as well.

Got some stuff back from the painter yesterday. The tank, lower fork tubes, headlight cover and gauges are painted tuxedo black. You cant tell in the pics but its black with a lot of red, yellow and green flake but its not so overpowering as some flakes. You can sort of tell in the last pic in the reflection on the tank but it really shines in sun light. The rest was standard gloss black, now just waiting on the frame and swinger so I can get down to it.
I want to not that I'm open to suggestions on what to do with the engine, I got ahold of some high heat paint to try out on the cases. I'd really like to do something with the exhaust using an aftermarket exhaust like hmf (which I love).......suggestions?

Had to take a break on my project to collect some parts. Thinking of doing an engine swap, anyone know if another engine bolts up to my mounts? Like a cb500 or 450, or anything else out there that's not too much fabbing to get it to fit?

Couple long overde update picks, nothing fancy. All I need to do is gas her up and see how it goes and get cracking on a seat? Any ideas, Im thinking cafe seat.
