CM400 wiring harness help

Ok, so last night my ignition switch decided that my fix wasn't good enough anymore, and after hotwiring it so I could get home, other things no longer wanted to work. I was hoping on waiting until this winter when I rebuilt the motor to make my own harness, but I suppose now is the time. I am not a complete noob at it, I recently rewired my 74 CL360, but there was much less to that bike than my CM. So I have a few questions.

1) What is a changing relay and changing switch, and do I need it?

I noticed that a wire from my CDI runs to it, but the rest seem to be grounds and going to pilot lamps (which if I am looking at this wiring diagram correctly just seem to be lights for my gauges.

I'm not too familiar with the bike, but based on the diagram it looks like it's a gear shift indicator of some sort. Also looks like it might be tied to the ignition to keep you from starting the bike in gear or if the bike is already running?

Probably some sort of safety feature. You can do without it and wire around the CDI changes if necessary.

That's exactly what it is. However, just from memory, it was only on the automatic versions of the CM. Is yours an automatic? There are different wiring diagrams for each type of CM (i.e. A, C and E).

Did some google searching, seems I should just scower the web for Nerdsport's posts, lol. He posted up a diagram he was doing when he was working out what he needed and didn't need.
