It's not really a trick but oftentimes when I'm looking for something specific on Craigslist or eBay I will purposefully misspell the name of the item. It works a lot of the time since there are a lot of people out there who don't take the time to spell correctly. I've been able to find items that wouldn't show up in a search for the correct name, meaning the potential number of competing buyers/bidders is probably smaller and thus the deal likely greater.
Agreed. I think it's just the nature of the beast though. For example I use searchallcraigs.com or whatever it is and if you search for highly desired machines - search "RD" for example and the majority of them are expired. Search "R6" and it's something else
I have better luck on SearchTempest for Roadrunner parts, but I've done okay with it for the bikes too. Straight Craigslist searches pull a fair amount of deleted entries too, just not the volume of Tempest.
