Hudson sentenced in road rage incident
December 16, 2011 10:00 pm • BROOKSVILLE | The truck driver caught on camera swerving at a passing motorcycle on May 22, on a rural Bracken County road, was sentenced to prison on Thursday.
Gary L. Hudson, 23, of Pendleton County, entered a guilty plea on Nov. 18, in Bracken Circuit Court to an offer from the Commonwealth's Attorney Office.
He was sentenced Thursday to two years in jail on each of two wanton endangerment counts, 90 days in jail for menacing and a $100 fine for reckless driving. The sentences run concurrent for a total of two years, court officials said.
In the incident, caught on a camera mounted on one of two motorcycles, Hudson is seen driving a truck which enters Kentucky 22 ahead of the motorcyclists and drives in the same direction. As the lead cycle attempts to pass Hudson on the left, Hudson appeared to purposefully steer into the lane and nearly forced the motorcycle off the road. The motorcycle with the camera continued to follow until all three vehicles stopped at an intersection and a verbal altercation with threats ensued.
Hudson is in Mason County Detention Center awaiting transfer to a state prison facility

Awesome. My faith in the justice system has been renewed.

Then there are just stupid people. I was driving my civic to work yesterday and an ass hat in a full size Chevy Pickup decides stop signs don't apply to him and he just drove right through as I am coming through the intersection, I am on main road, no stop with right of way. I hit the brakes, swerved, honked, gave him the finger, nearly shit my pants all in about a half second. If someone was coming the other way and I had no clear lane I was dead or severley hurt. I was doing 60 KPh, the speed limit, and I might have slowed to 40 before impact. That speed hitting the tall truck would have put me under him and took the roof off the civic, along with my head. Could have been worse, could have been on the bike and low sided. With the car I was almost in the ditch on the opposite side of the road to get around him.

2 years for attempted murder? And that's all it can be seen as. What else where the hick's intentions?
Sounds like it is here in Canada, where we have no "justice" system. Only a legal system.

I can't believe how calm the two of them stayed. Just watching it my heart was beating, I was swearing profusely, and was thinking of things to say to him as I tackled his ass.

But I'm also a pussy and would probably do nothing and cry a little bit.

I don't know man. Two years behind the bars is a looooong time. Not that I have any first hand experience...

In 2008 a driver forced me into a ditch while I was on my bicycle. He got upset because I was passing him on a two lane road on the right lane while he was stuck behind a turning car on the left lane. Or that was what he told me after I followed him to his house (I know, not too smart). I went to a cop shop to file a report and cops told me that they would contact him. Few hours later the officer phoned me back and advised that I had misunderstood the whole situation and we were both at fault. This is how they roll here in Canada.

Gopro or similar is an awesome devise in traffic if anything ever happens.

yes... some wild gunfire would have improved the situation. ::)

when did i say anything about wildy shooting my firearm? And last time i check it some crqzy as redneck was trying to kill me on my motorcycle u best believe i would value my life enough to defend it. What if the guy wouldnt allow you to stop or in my case u couldnt out run him do to lack of rider skill and power (cb360) would u allow him to run you over/kill u?

You obviously dont carry and understand the responcibility of carrying a fire arm. He never said he would brandish his gun and start shooting. It's the point that this man in the truck needed to be confronted and reported. Who knows if the guy would have gotton out with a gun. As crazy as he was driving I wouldn't have put it past him. Having a firearm on you would be much better than throwing your helmet at him when he starts shooting.

Then explain to me how you would pull your gun .... while riding at high speed.... firing with your left hand.... explain how that would NOT be firing wildly?

So you stop and start yelling at each other.... with all that adrenaline pumping in your veins.... with a loaded gun on your person. It sounds like a case of manslaughter waiting to happen.

What really happened in this case is what SHOULD have happened, the rider turned over the camera to the sheriff and redneck sits in the state pen. Adding a loaded gun to the situation
could have resulted in dead redneck and angry rider in the state pen for committing manslaughter.

Most Americans don't understand the responsibility of carrying a firearm. That is the reason why there are 30,000 firearm related deaths in the U.S. EVERY year. That's almost 8 times the American death toll of the entire Iraq war

As am I. But.....I wonder how many vehicles kill people each year? Should we not drive and outlaw cars? I wonder how many matches create arson? Should we get rid of them?
And since you are a factual kind of guy. Why dont you do a little research on crime rates the following year of each state AFTER they have adopted a new CCW law.

Tell Obama I said "hi".

I used to be a gun owner, until I realized I didn't really have a legitimate reason to have one. Most people don't... and usually don't get adequate training in gun safety. Sadly, the weapon is more likely to hurt the owner or an owner's loved one...than some criminal.
A teen going through a tough time, finds Dad's gun... not having the maturity to know bad times come and go..makes a final decision. I have seen this first hand growing up.
When tempers flare.... it isn't always good judgement that prevails.. access to a firearm just makes the situation deadly.
My point isn't that guns are bad. My point is a lot of people don't need them and don't respect just how deadly they are and how much responsibility is needed to be an owner.
