Custom Fiberglass Seat Cowl ***finished pg 2

House Smells Like Gas.....
My girl likes to ride so a traditional cafe seat was out of the question (I don't really regard my bike as a cafe racer anyways, being as it's a 1000). I molded this out of fiberglass laid on top of the stock seat. Came out pretty good. Base coat is on, going to stripe a little then clear.

Re: Custom Fiberglass Seat Cowl

looks good, I was going to do the same thing but ended up just making two separate seats.

Re: Custom Fiberglass Seat Cowl

Nice solution. I have the same problem I need to make my bikes with provision for a pillion.

Re: Custom Fiberglass Seat Cowl

Looks excellent man. I have the same issue. My girl wants to ride too, like on all my past bikes, but I think I've got her convinced on just getting her own set of wheels. What could having more bikes around hurt?!

I hear that, she wants her own bike too but for the time being this will have to do until I can find her a beater to learn on.

Getting there, need final wet sand, clear and buff.

Like the look, flows with the tank.

Thanks man. I didn't want it too busy and the red is just subtle enough you probably won't notice it unless you're up close. I'm clearing it right now, looking pretty good (spraymax).

One of the main reasons I chose this bike was because of the shape of the tank, the curves and sharp lines are cool.

Spraymax is the shit....

Re: Custom Fiberglass Seat Cowl

Also I gotta ask. Is that clear as slick as it looks? I mean I've read that the spraymax is different than normal rattle can because it has hardener, but man that looks nice. I've sprayed in my garage with a compressor/hvlp setup before, but its currently full of crap so I that won't happen in the near future...

It literally is as slick as it looks. I have a compressor and HVLP setup and for small projects I'll never go back to it. This stuff laid perfect, didn't run, flashed in about ten minutes and looks awesome. I'm sold. ;D

If it wasn't for the fact that I have a few pieces of dust in the black I wouldn't even buff it.

Re: Custom Fiberglass Seat Cowl

Wooow that's fantastic. I'll have to try that stuff out then. Were you able to pick it up in a store or did you have to order it online?

Re: Custom Fiberglass Seat Cowl

amazon.com

It's tough to find this in AZ due to EPA regs.
