picked up a 1980 gs 750 a few months ago. As soon as I got it it went to a "friend" to rebuild the carbs. They were rebuilt but it took 3 months to get the bike back : . When I first got it my plans were to chop the tail, put a cafe seat on it, clubmans, and beat the crap out of it on the street...In that 3 months my plans have changed a bit. I am going for more of a gravel-crew inspired chop. I am limited because my bike "workshop" is outside under a deck. No garage or full covering. The lighting under it sucks so I am stuck to working on it for a few hours mid-day when I can get over to where it is (about 20 miles from my house). On to the pics....
When I finally got it home
headlight rats nest...oh yea, I am making a completely new wiring harness to eliminate all of this garbage....
stripped down
tail chop and rear shock test fit
one with the tank
I think I look like a gorilla fucking a soccer ball on the thing with the mid controls. I will try to address that later..
along with a more agressive handlebar position...
box for the electrics under the seat...
ground the old tabs down a bit more
I also took apart the front forks to chop them shorter and mill off the fender mounts..
