CX500 "Ruffy" (Finland)

Thats right. I figured I wanted to fab a hoop but didnt get any answers from the local machineries. I then decided to do a few slices on the frame and bend it inwards like the seat shape. The bike is now 98% ready and it's back on the road after many long years. I have a few new pics but im on the phones browser so no luck linking them here..:(

This is how it stands right now.

Looks very good.

How was the safety/katsastus with a modified older bike and do the insurance companies like to rape even older bikes? It appears that even older bikes get stupid expensive in Finland.

I think the insurance is something like 280€/year. I haven't "katsastaa" (have it checked for road legality) it, I'm too puzzled about the regulations to know if I need to do it or not. Judging by what I've read, I don't have to do it, but who knows.

140€ for 6 month driving in Finland ?? why, it is a second day since you got your driving license? :D and cx is only 37kw, I dont want to know what insurance for 130kw bike cost here :D
I think you must only change your motorcycle papers becouse its 1 seat now, not 2. If you want it full leagal. But becouse you havent cut its frame to peases or put some V8 engine here its ok and nobody will care. it is cosmetic changes.. ;)

No, it's still a two-seater, the footpegs are just missing for the moment. I'm still not quite sure if it's 140€ or 280€ per year. Haven't got the contract papers yet.

wow, that's quite much money for a driving season. I'll pay about 55 € here in Germany. Given that I'll get a license plate for road legal use next spring over here ;D

Interesting stuff about the inspection and insurance. I never owned a street bike in Finland and just assumed that bikes get raped by authorities.

Here I need to get my bike safety inspected once a year ($55 a pop) and insurance quote that I got for my CB360 is $587 for a year/season. Bikes are much cheaper than in Finland, but you end up parting ways with your many eventually anyway.

You're right for sure, something might seem cheaper in some other country but in some way, the authorities will get their well earned money.. Not judging, just saying..

Anyway, thanks for the comments, guys. Here's a short video of the bike and a quick/narrow view of the Acewell M52 gauge. I don't know if it's my phone's ability to only capture high-pitched sounds, or if the bike really is that quiet, but you can almost only hear the infamous Honda-whine on the video.. :p

By the way, if you think 280€/year is expensive.. For a young male like me, a spanking-new, say, GSX-R 1000 could cost me up to 1700€/year, well over $2000 per year. Geez, that's a LOT more than I spent on this bike alone.

Any news, pics?
Have you checked cam chain tension? Its a bit noisy in video but fortunately doesent make rattling noise :)

Hey Tolka, sorry about the late post. I believe the noise in the video was the valves, I have adjusted them since. The cam chain clearance and tension should be allright.

No news or pics apart from a Harley front fender I'm working on, should be a good fit once I figure out how to mount it.
