I have an old thread on another CX that Im doing but took a break because I bought this junker for a few hundred bucks........I know its a little pricy but everything is in Ontario Canada

I got to work on it immediately and srtipped it down to nothing. I needed a ride in the meantime and had a 4 week turn around plan on it........yeah right.......took 7 weeks instead because work kept me from doing what I needed.
Other than powder coating the rims, I did it all.
Rebuilt forks with race tech springs and emulators
motor got a new cam chain, tensioners, gaskets and seals throughout + a coat of satin paint and stainless bolts
GK clutch and heavy duty springs
new cables
clip ons and grips
new rubber front and rear
cross drilled rotor and new sintered pads.....with a SS brake line and new master
sand blasted the frame, swing arm, kick stand, centre stand, triples
New headstock bearings
painted the frame and all the other parts (some with epoxy paint in satin black)
Gas tank was a bastard (4 small dents but creased) and rattle can paint experiment for me (not bad)
A friend turned out some new pegs plus pegs for the shifter and brake, I made the or altered the original brake and shifter arm
New exhaust from heads back to mufflers
AND I have a set of Murray 34mm Mikunis on it
Tucked the electrical under the seat (still need to clean that up a little)
Made a new seat pan, foamed it, and stitched up my own cover (again its was a learning lesson about stitching).......will be making a new one soon that is a little more tucked in on the sides (not so wide)

Here it is (sorry they are cell phone pics)

Now I think I will take a little break and just ride the crap out of it and then get finishing up on the other project I have started

Cheers

Oh and I made my own little dash with LEDs from a member here by the name of WOWBAGGER.

Thanks........it was meant to be my scoot for around town and I wasnt looking for perfection with it, it needed to have a little touch of home built to it without the look of me massacred. First ride out to test I unintentionally did a wheely through an intersection, so it has some get up and go to it from the carbs

Maritime, from what I see you are almost there..........and its not a hack job, looking good! You are doing the same thing I did, just using what you have available. And I really dig the seat you made

Thanks Kamn, I am in a holding pattern until the damn 1.75 thermo switch shows up for the fan so I can finish wiring and get the front end on. I think I am going to get it put together to the point of test riding before I do the finish paint just in case anything needs tweaking.

You are in Toronto so now i know where t go for help when i finally get mine. Your build is sweet.

I am actually just outside of TO in Whitby.........send me PM if you need anything for your CX, and I saw 2 for a good price in Kijiji
1 was going for $400 OBO

I go to see Ted at Rosie Toes for safeties and to chat about dogs..........he gets all Happy and talkative when I bring my dogs with me (and no they dont ride on the bike)

Yup, I have 2 labs that are just awesome........I run a dog daycare and run training classes in the evenings

Nice, I have a brittany spaniel and would have more if I had the time to devote to more than one dog.

That is what makes a an AWESOME dog owner..........the one who realizes the amount of attention and work that goes into just 1 dog..........never mind 2-3 or 4 dogs. When I hear people talking about having 3 or 4 dogs, I think "how in the fuk are you able to meet all of the individual personality needs of those dogs??
My guys are awesome! They get a little pissy if my wife and I get busy with work and we havent done enough with them but when push comes to shove, they are top notch and help out with the unruly dogs that stay over sometimes
If you EVER have any questions about your dogs behaviour......just ask. And I am not a hoky treat training meathead nor am I one who beleives in the use of prong collars or shock collars. What is amazing is when you figure out that dogs personality and then it opens the door of how to work with that specific dog, kinda like teaching kids, they dont all learn the same way
Sorry, I can get a little lost talking about this

Dog questions is open to anybody who reads this and needs a little assistance

Cheers

LOL, I know, my girl has specific needs based on her personality she is super great dog, but neglect her exercise needs and she will let you know. She used to need to walks of 20+ mins a day and at least 30-45 mins of running at the dog park, now that she is 5 going on 6 I can get away with one walk and 15 mins of fetch, if that happens she just wants to hang, relax and be in the same room. don't do that and she will bug the crap out of you with toys, whining and bad behavior. Dogs are part of the family and are todlers that never grow up LOL.

GREAT looking bike Kamn!

I am a newbie at this. Just got started on a '78 CB550k.
Seeing what you have done with this CX in the time that you had to work it makes me wonder if I could throw some questions at you regarding the tear down and rebirth of my CB. I live in AB (grew up in TO) and could use some veteran advice on where to source parts in Canada. I have a couple of vendors already but I am guessing you may know more.

Thanks, Darrin.

(Remember the go cart track in Whitby? Lots of fun memories there for me in my teen years! 80's)
