Last week or so I bid on this auction from gabers18tools,
Up for auction is a 1979 Kawaskai KZ 650 set of crash bars, bars are in decent shape, they do have some road rash on them, cheap easy way to protect your bike, any questions please email em
Vendors Picture:
And what I got:
My big mistake was that I thought "some road rash" meant that with a bit of sanding and a new paint job that I could get a decent looking application out of them. What I got was heavily damaged bars that will require that metal be welded and reshaped to the bars. Do-able but still a misrepresentation of what I paid for and the fact that the bars were positioned so that he extent of the damage would not be seen in the picture, really adds insult. I simply felt that due to the misrepresentation of the product I would be better off sending them back and purchasing another set of bars, here is how the conversation went with the vendor:
Dear gabers18tools,
Some road rash does not quite cover the extent of the damage to these bars. The metal is sanded down almost flat along one side of the guard. Serious Road rash is more of an apt description. I would like to return the product to you and be credited the full amount I paid.
Dear ebay purchaser,
What did you expect after seeing the pictures and the low asking price? They are useble, and after properly installed will save you hundreds, if you ever lay her down. Oh well, send them back or keep them and I'll refund you $10.00. Gabe
Dear gabers18tools,
I expected to get an item that was as described, exactly as I provide to the people who bid on my auctions. Your photos failed to show the extent of the damage to the bars. I can see now by your reply precisely how you do business and what type of vendor you are. Seeing the bars is one of the reasons I bid in the first place, I had given you credit that you would show the damage in the pictures, yet you positioned the bars in the photo to hide the damaged side of the bars. Don't worry about the refund. I'll forward your reply and legit pictures to ebay and paypal and let them decide. You won't even live up to your printed refund policy and refund the entire amount I paid for your item. Price has nothing to do with integrity, when a man pays you for something no matter what the price is, it should be as described or not sold in the first place.
Dear ebay purchaser,
Cry me a river, send the damn things back, they should get here faster than you long essay!
So my Ton Up friends you know what you are dealing with when you deal with gabers18tools.
None of this has any thing to do with the price I paid for the product, it has EVERYTHING to do with the misrepresentation of the product and the way I was treated after the sale. Money is important, but Honor and ethics mean more to me than any amount of money. This vendor may get money now and then but of honor and ethics he is piss poor. Guess my expectations may indeed have been a bit too high, but so far, as I set out to build my Cafe bike, things have been going very well, every other vendor I have dealt with has been helpful and as into the project as I have been. That's what has set me off here, and a heads up on this, I felt, was in order so that other project builders will know what they are dealing with when they purchase from this vendor. VZ
