Looking for a decibel meter prior to my trip to Cayuga at end of month. I have the baffles out of my stock mufflers on one CB750, and a header on another. One of the CVMG guys suggested I put the baffles back in (which were removed by the PO so not available) as the decibel level allowable at Cayuga is 102Db. Don't know about Shannonville either as I heard they have a limit.
Anyone know where to source a decent and low-cost meter? RadShack (The Source) has one on their site, but no one seems to carry it in stock. Looking for alternate sources.
Failing that, anyone got some baffles for the HM341 exhaust that I could borrow or purchase?
I am just in Milton, so not so far away. It is going to take me a couple of days to get the bike going again (carbs off, throttle cable being replaced). I will let you know, but I think I would like to borrow it for a couple of days (unless I can ride the bike, but that means rehooking lights/mirror/etc).
Why is it a Harley with straight pipes can get away with more than an old sport bike with no baffles? THere just ain't no justice.
Because everyone knows that the big bad Harley guys are all in gangs and will kill anyone that says their bike is too loud. Besides, if you can't go fast...go LOUD
Hey Graham.
Why don't you rent a Harley when you are across the pond. I'm certain those Brits will respond well to the sound of straight pipes.
I am 'baffled' by all the decibel rules. I've heard some pretty noisy bikes at the track. Even those SV650's with the aftermarket pipes sound louder than my de-baffled CB750.
Hey Jim, you were at North Bay last year right? Remember that exhaust that Billy Soames was running, he said it was a one off from Hindle. I don't think that had any baffles in it at all. All those two-smoke boys with those expansion pippes kinda set my teeth on edge when they got wound out too. At least you can hear when a rider is near you in the corners, makes shutting the door easier! ;D
