Disc brake conversion for CB550

How difficult is it? More importantly, is it necessary? Highly recommended?

Talking front or rear?
All cb550 had a front disc so I assume you are talking rear.

No bolt on rear solutions, but anything can be fabbed.
I would spend the time and money putting a second disc up front and installing alloy wheels.

Thanks. Sounds expensive though. Ill definitely put it on the back burner though. Winter project list. I remember the ride before the tear down and remember how inefficient the brakes seemed to be.

Stainless steel braided lines, clean the caliper inside and out. Rebuild the master cylinder..New Brake pads.

My CB360 had crappy brakes, after the addition of lines, and a rebuild, new EBC pads, the brakes are pretty good for an old 1 disk system.

I believe the CB550 has the same or similar single disk. New pads, and deglaze the disk might make a significant difference.
