Thanks guys
Teazer, yea they're real low. The short story is... when I first mounted them, right under the triple, they hit the tank. So I dropped them just enough to clear. Then they hit the steering lock. So I dropped them just enough to clear. Then they hit the cable routing loop. So I bent that fucker out the way 'cause they were getting really low. Then I went to mount the headlight with the clamps under the clipons, and didn't like how low it sat. So I flipped the headlight ears and monted them over the clipons. But they didn't quite clear, so "what the heck", the clipons got lowered a tad more. The end result was/is the "rack" you see there. It's not unbearable, but after a while it does wear on my wrists and lower back. I have plans to do a facelift on her in a few months (when my shop is finished) and those issues will be addressed to move the clipons back up under the triple.
Something along these lines will be my next build. I was thinking of doing an XS650 Brat but I love smokers. I still have very fond memories of my RZ350 back in the 80's
Thanks for reminding. I have a second girl few days away and should they ever bring an idiot over...I can be a mean old man.
That picture does give shudders. Like I think I mentioned before, I've had to witness some aftermath of motorcycle crash while wearing skate shoes/runners. There was also a huge outcry here when cops were ticketing guys riding in flipflops.
