DIY Bratstyle seat #2 for my SR500

locOleoN

Is that the best you got? OK.. now my TURN...
Love it or hate it.. I did it again.
I made another seat Bratstyle seat for my 79 SR500 using a perfect sr500 stock seat...

I could have just as easily spent $150 - $200 for a Retrofitted or MotoLANA seat but I wanted to make it myself...

Here is the seat at the beginning:

I sliced some 1/4 fuel hose along the side and glued it to the edges of the pan then mocked it up against an old harley fender that I had laying around:

So the foam is now ready to chopped and shaved:

I didnt want a standard flat seat.. This is what I had in mind and a guide:

So I started to cut the underside of the foam to get the basic shape I wanted...

I honestly dont know which one I like better!!.. I really like them both.. I guess I can just swap them out whenever I feel like it

I like it man....it suits the look/style of your bike!!!
It'll prolly look sleeker if the cover was a little more fitted....just my 2 cents!!!

yeah.. I hear ya...
That was a total DIY using the original leather which didn't really fit well after I shortened the length and shaved the foam.
I plan to have it properly redone by a professional over the winter time

Old post I know, but getting ready to cut up my pan and wanted to know where you cut the pan. I want mine shorter and a little narrower as well. thanks
