DIY Pedestrian Slicer?

Been Around the Block
If there's one thing I love on cafes it's the ped slicer. I see Carpy (http://www.cb750cafe.com/) sells one, but is almost guaranteed to not fit my SR. Anyone know of a good and cheap way of making a decent looking slicer?

Why wouldn't it fit? 19 inch front wheel right? They just bolt onto the front fender.

Tons of them on ebay too. Or just cut your own out of aluminum or steel.

Don't they bolt on with the axle? didn't think they went straight through the fender?

You are talking about a Euro style front fender mounted license plate... right?

The only part Steve sells that you could be looking at is this.

Which bolts to your front fender.

Oh ok, wasn't sure that they bolted on. $100 isn't bad, but I guess it depends on shipping.

Didn't you just make a cafe seat? Can't you make a flat piece of metal to fit your fender? Check out McMaster-Carr or someplace and I'm sure you'll find hardware you can use to fix it down.

And if you can't afford to buy a cafe seat but don't think $100 is a lot of money for a flat metal tab, I'm confused. (Edit: Ok, didn't realize it had text embossed for that price, but still...)

If you want one ready-made for cheap, I'd check Ebay and Royal Enfield suppliers from India (bulletwala, royal enfield zone, etc.) Those license plates are popular over here and parts are generally next to free by rest-of-the-world standards. (Although for selling out of the country, they tack on a relatively huge upcharge.)

Thing about the seat for $100 is it's not even near ready, kind of a rip off if you ask me! Also I realllly want a ped slicer, and I'd make it myself but how the heck do you even embose something? 've never even heard of that before.

Meant to post these a few days ago but oh well. They're straight from making a rough draft with cardboard then taking the grinder to it and eyeballing the rest. 8)

2 1/2"-3" numbers fit well. Anyone know where to get any?

Now... what are ya going to put on there??? 1FST MF.... I12 ETU...CAFE 666.... You could go to a lazer jet place and have them cut your numbers in, or go to a sign shop and have them cut vynil letters/numbers for you. Go to art supply house and buy stencils, find a pinstriper and have it custom.

Hoosier, is that a link or a photo?

Thanks for the suggestions guys, really good ones. But I'm pretty short on money and live in a small town with very limited specialized shops. I think I have to stick to stickers.

Either way, how does the shape look?

It's just a pic.. but any local hardware store, Wal-mart, Lowes, etc. would have them... any place that sells mailboxes.
I think your shape looks good.
