Been Around the Block
first off Im not the greatest with electrical but I will be having a buddy who is helping me and knows his stuff but isnt always avaliale. I am about to start buildling a wiring harness for my 750k2. I have 3 honda harnesses (unknown years), 2 fully wrapped and 1 that is stripped to individual wires and plugs. I would like to build a harness that is fairly stripped down. I want no starter safety motor, and no turn signal, but would like dummy lights an auxiliary usb power line, and a complete kill switch for lights.
My question is where is the best place to start. So far I have all the components (regulator, point, rectifier etc) on the bike, connectors cleaned. So where/what component/section string is the easiest to start at and go to?
Should I use electrical grease on connectors?
I found out I have 3 ohm coils (stock was 5ohm) which from what I read arent the greatest b.c they will burn out points or something. Can I compensate with Hondamans (sohc4 guy) resistor pack or I read something about dynas running with 3ohms?
this may be a stupid question, but some of my parts (tail light, righthand controls) are aftermarket (cant find a wiring diagram) to test things and figure out which wire is what can I hook them straight up to the battery or without a load spread out will this blow bulbs or something. As I said not the most electrically knowledgeable.
