DMV tax advice

i am going to title and register my motorcycle in california as a newly constructed vehicle, using the calculator on the DMV website i found that it is estimated that i need to pay $1200 for registration, $1000 of which is sales tax. seeing as i have already paid sales tax once on every part, it seems ludicrous to be charged again. if anyone who has been in a similar situation could share their experience and how the process went?

Call the DMV and ask. You may get an asshole, or you may get someone who will help. Going to the source is usually the best bet.

To add to that, have every receipt showing sales tax paid.
