DO THE TON - Barber Vintage Festival - Alabama October 7-8-9 2011

I've asked him about bringing food down - he told me dinner is already planned. I think we could all pitch in while we are down there and help cook, clean up, donate some cash for their hospitality, etc. Might want to hear it from the man himself though.

Good question

what is everyone doing for food at Kiley's? Do we just plan to throw in and buy food to cookout?

So pumped about this trip!!! :D

Good Question. I pm'd Kiley last night to see if there was anything he needed for the GTG, I have BBQ, 2 burner coleman, griddle, propane tanks, lanterns, screen tent, tarps etc. I can bring it all if he needs it. It would make sense for us to pitch in and send a car to the grocery store for burgers, dogs etc. What did Y'all do last year?

Alright folks, the Barber Vintage Festival is less than a week away! As you know we’re putting together quite the to-do area for those of you who appreciate these vintage speed machines of yesteryear! We’ve got over $1,500.00 in giveaways from great sponsors like Dennis Kirk, Bell Helmets, Icon, Legends Fiberglass, Rusty Knuckles, Caraibi Rockers, Mike Woulfe Leathers and several more. In addition you’ll be able to get your hands on a copy of Ace Times the history of the Ace Cafe signed by Marks Wilsmore.
The Friday Lunch Ride is going to be a blast and for those of you coming, we ask you to please join us! The ride meets in the museum parking lot, KICKSTANDS UP at 12:30. It is a ride at your own pace, destination ride to the Irondale Café, better known as the “whistle-stop café” from the book/movie “Fried Green Tomatoes”. They are expecting us at 1pm, if you want to check out some of the lovely Alabama roads in the morning and meet at the café, that’s fine. The address is: 1906 First Ave North, Irondale, AL.
There is parking for the group behind the café. It’s cafeteria style, separate checks and if you like old fashioned southern cooking, that’s what it’s world famous for. Our group will be lead by folks from Dime City Cycles, DoTheTon, The Ace Cafe and Cafe Racer TV and will follow (at a distance) the Atlanta Ducati Owners Club “Wilducs” Should you choose to ride with the group please stay alert, leave plenty of space between you and the bikes near you and obey the traffic laws. If you are uncomfortable for any reason, do not hesitate to drop out. As an additional safety and help item, there will be a black truck marked DUCSTOCK following the group, if you need assistance that’s what they are there for – JUST ASK!

Yup - was about to post that :) We're piggybacking on the Ducstock lunch ride Friday. We'll follow along the group, giving them their space, but we're all ending up at the cafe and it should be a great time.

Thanks for the info.

Is there a thread on the forums for people to put a link to their FB page?

Kiley and I (actualy our wives) just picked up most of the groceries we should need today. I'm sure there may be a few odds and ends that we may need to pick up over the course of the weekend but nothing that cant be worked out once everyone is here. Having lasagna onFriday night and boston butts on Saturday night. there will also be hamburgers and dogs. Will have a breakfast casserole on Friday morning. Not sure about Sat and Sun morning, if nothing else there is a waffle house less than 5 minutes away from Kiley's. if everyone can lend a hand with the cooking and clean up dinner for the weekend should go pretty smooth!

For those of you that don't know (I didn't.....), Boston butts are a type of pork bbq. I plan on bringing chips, paper plates, plastic silverware, etc - it was all left over from a party we just had.

I'm getting really anxious about all this. The back seat of the truck is loaded, bike is on the trailer already, and everything going in the bed is on the garage floor waiting to be loaded. Wednesday evening I'll be picking Justin up and we are driving straight down to Bama. Should be there sometime around 11 am Thursday morning.

I'm trying to plan a stop at Deals Gap on the way home, does anyone know where I can park my truck and trailer on the Tennessee side? Information is vauge at best and most routes would have me driving my truck on the gap to get to one of the promoters. I'm not looking for an overnight stay but its a definite possibility.

Chrimeramotorworks would be a good one to ask. His shop is in maryville tn I believe. And lives about 10the min from the dragon

I know its last minute, but I'm thinking of coming up from Tampa, FL for Sunday. I have Sun/Mon off and would love to check out the swap meet, bikes etc. even if its for a day. Do you guys think it is worth it to come up for a single day?

Hey guys,

Everything is good to go here for dinners. Trust me, we won't be around for lunch, so it's a fend for yourself kind of thing, but we plan on having a good time after Barber's everyday here with food, brews, and music on the radio. The only thing you guys need to bring is beer. There are plenty of good places around here to buy it to. I'm trying to think of everything I can to give you guys a heads up on. I will be here from Thursday morning around 8am on. I'll be glad to do whatever you guys need to help you get in. Just warning you, I have a very long dirt drive (think Troy's for those of you who went to WV), so be careful coming in an out of there. We have plenty of lawn for camping. The only thing I ask is that you kids pick up after yourself with the beer bottles and such, so there's no pressure at this GTG.

My wife is a wonderful person. She has been preparing for you guys for over a week buying groceries, cleaning, etc just to get ready. She is awesome. I'd like to do something for her hush hush while you guys are here. I thought about a couple of things. Maybe one of those giant cards you can get, or a signed DTT shirt for thanks. She really is a doll and has been busting tail around this place while I prepare my bikes. She deserves to hear that she is awesome from the lot o' ya! If you guys need anything, just let me know, but we are go for game time on this end!

EDIT! JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING! If you guys can bring some folding chairs, please do even if it's just one per person. WE have a lot of them, but better safe than sorry.

I'll throw in as many chairs as I can find. Let me know if we can help anyway with the thank you to the missus to!

Yes, absolutely.

Kiley - I think she deserves more than a card or shirt signed by a bunch of hooligans ;)

Where does she like to shop for herself? Maybe we take up a collection and send her shopping for fun stuff, not food :)
