I originally bought this bike in college about 10 years ago, I did some basic maintenance, and cosmetic upgrades and when I graduated I did a 17,000 mile solo road-trip through the US, Canada, and Mexico. I spent a lot of time on fire roads, and jeep trails and it got pretty beat up. I limped it home to rebuild the motor and once I had that out things spiraled out of control. 7 years later and its back on the road (Small hiccup yesterday though : ) I tried to do as much of the work as possible including the paint, seat, composite work, and most of the fabrication. Since the better photos of the bike are already up I will just add a couple "before" photos of it on the road trip that started this whole thing.
Well, I guess I should toot my own horn too.
Here is a very abbreviated version in photos...like I said before, the full story is on the build thread. By the way...the bike not only looks good but is performing to perfection.
I don't often vote but I have this month.
Real tough decision as I'm pretty fond of all those bikes.
Majority have never heard of Grimeca calipers so that swung it for m.
Pretty sure I still have a 'Fastback' tank and tailpiece somewhere kicking around (in Britain)
My sister sold her Z1 quite a few years ago as she knew she wouldn't ride it again (and she succumbed to cancer Jan 2015)
The 'Flying Brix' was also name of a friends 'punk' band way back when (when I worked in Suzuki/BMW dealers)
