DO THE TON Mama Tried IV Oct 2013 - Barber Vintage Festival

They had better food around the auction building than Ace Corner last year. BBQ and such.

We're bringing a smoker, and smoking a good bit of meat. Any of you guys are welcome to some real BBQ and brews. I'll have to look and see where my two vendor spots are and post them later.

Be nice to put some faces to names.

Hell yeah I will be game for some good BBQ! Sucks I have to fly in so I won't have a bike to go on the group rides.

I'll be there with some friends from Connecticut. I'll be riding my newest build. Can't wait! This bike/trip has been two years in the making. I got the idea for this build while at Barber in 2011.

Never considered Barber, but just googled it and it is only 8 hours away . . . hmmm.

Those who have been to MO VD and Barber, how do they compare?

Barber is epic. Museum is worth the trip by itself. 60,000 people but well organized. Certainly lines to get into the park but I haven't heard too many complaints about that. I've always been working the show so had to be there at 8am everyday so no long waits.

Here's two of my fave pics from the museum:

You can spend an entire weekend at just the museum.
The swap meet at Mid-o was a little better than the one at Barber, but overall, Barber gets my vote, hands down. You will not be disappointed.
Its become like a holiday in my family- we plan around it.

The swapmeet at Mid Ohio is better/bigger. But the Dtt presence at Barber is a hyge draw for me and Jenn. And Buckeye, I walked right by you in the swapmeet the other day and had no idea it was you! Nice triton tho! I cat speak much for the infield atteactions at mid ohio, I didn't make it to them. I pillaged in the swapmeet all day. As for after hours at barber, Kileys garage is the place to be, and there's places to ride to in the area that are cool too. Bottom line, why choose? Attend both :) we plan on it from here on out..

Yes. Yes, we do!

Vendor's row (the other end of the WOD area) had the best food onsite. McAlister's Deli has a couple of tents there with good food and GREAT sweet tea (yankees best order half&half to avoid shock ; ) ). The Cuban food trailer has some of the best food I have eaten anywhere, much less a track.

Hey if you guys are riding, we should touch base closer to the date, if I get to go I want to ride and I have to go right through CT. You actually gave me your shop address in 2011 in case we had problems. Would be nice to get to ride with a few folks instead of solo. Unless I am bringing family again, then I will be caging with maybe a trailer that could be a chase vehicle instead.

Cheers,

Maritime

Thanks for the comparisons. If I decide to make the trip, I will hit you all up for suggestions and tips as I know nothing of the event. I have been going to MidOhio on and off for 20 years as it is 45 minutes from my house.

E. - I knew you all were there somewhere ;) I was rather consumed with the new purchase, otherwise I would have gotten out more- the rain didn't help either.

If you're a hotel sort of guy, check around and make some reservations now. You can typically cancel a hotel without penalty all the way up to the day of arrival so it never hurts to reserve a room. They go quickly in the area for the event.

This was my first year at Mid-Ohio. IMO, Barber is better, and continuing to grow each year. From what most everyone was saying at Mid-O, it's on a downswing.
