Junior for making me laugh, every... freakin... time... he got within 10'. This guy fucked with me all weekend! And it was the best time ever. For those who know Junior, y'all know. But for those who have never met Junior, you are missing out, and need to do so. He is one of the best people on the planet... period.
I don't even know this guy,I think he owned that 250 I kept parking next to ;)

Never did manage to make it over there. We were going to crash the gate with our scooters yelling "MODS MODS MODS!" but turns out spending all day behind a table at the swap meet area is serious business.

Apparently the old folks didn't take kindly to us partying all night though... cops showed up twice.

Did manage to score a nice Suzuki GS650E, GT250, CL175, and a ride home, which crossed "Riding to/from Barber" off the list :)

Makes me wonder if they would cut us a DTT discount next year for parade laps. With enough interest, I wonder if they would let us do a DTT parade lap set.

You would have to get in contact with the RaceTrack on that one. They are usually pressed for time at the end of the day due to racing incidents and whatnot.
Cant hurt to ask though! Worst they can say is NO...right?

They let those VJMC(Virgin Japanese Motorcycle Club) guys do it, and we are all way cooler than those guys! Definitely won't hurt to ask!

We've talked about trying to do a track-day in the area to coincide with the weekend, but as everyone who has attended knows, time is tight. Most people only have a few days to spare, and a track day would eat up a lot of time and money.

It's not likely for us to get out on the track ourselves, but we might be able to coordinate a 'cafe racer' parade lap as part of the Ace Corner deal. Given they charge $30 for the Parade Lap, I don't expect they'd simply add it into the $25 Ace Corner pass package.

With the number of Parade Laps available, there's no problem for most people to do it. And they're not just going to open the track up to us hooligans for a no-holds-barred race ;) which is of course what we'd all want to do.

VJMC has been around since 1977, and has gazillions of members who fork out $30 a year in dues. They have a board of directors, publish a magazine etc. etc. It's a bit of a different animal than DO THE TON at the moment :D

All good points Tim, I guess next year we should take a poll and see who all is considering doing parade laps and trying to coordinate it so we can all run together.

Should probably discuss it with DCC and maybe Cafe Racer Magazine/TV see if they can work out a Cafe Racer only parade lap. They would probably have everyone line up and run 4 laps with the DCC crew leading the way. Then do all of the other parade laps after us. They did something like this with Triumph during the Triumph Superbike races this year. They had the triumph bikes all line up togther and the racing team lead the way.

But not sure about the cost because as far as I know everyone paid their 30 dollars.

Here's the pics I got over the weekend.

At the park...
I was graciously told to display my bike in the DTT "inside" tent

I had the honor to be displayed with this machine.
park7_zpsd89dd739.jpg

I got to meet Conner Cummins!
For those that don't know who he is... Do a Google search ;)
I don't get "star struck" by celebrities. I don't stand in line to see them, I don't ask for autographs, etc. But this guy, and all those who race the TT's? Have balls that fuckin CLANK! And I chased the golf cart he was in from the access road all the way to the top of the hill.

And just a few random bikes from the park.

Sadly, I was slacking bigtime this year with the girl/bike pics

Fortunately though, several of the lovely ladies at Kileys were happy to help
cheesy.gif

We have, (Water)Melanie. She is a riot to hang with
wink.gif

bikemelaine1__zps845e66df.jpg

Jenn. Her bike came to life in the Garage Saturday night.
bikejenn2__zpsb3a8935e.jpg

Kate. She smokes cigars, she drinks, and she can outride half the people on the forum... on a two stroke too!
bikekate1__zps3505b774.jpg

Tori. On the back but certainly not ridin "bitch", she's a sweetie who aint afraid to get dirty... with a wrench that is!
biketori1__zpsca09a49c.jpg

Meagan. Who doesn't ride at all, but was nice enough to pose with the bike anyway. I can only hope that she left some of her "sunshine" with the bike, so I'll never get caught in the rain again

bikemegan3__zpsebc7d7c0.jpg

And Last, but most certainly not least, Amanda. She's got a helluva sense of humor. I guess she'd have to... hangin around us bunch of hooligans.

In closing... The story behind Junior "fuckin with me" all weekend is: Thursday when we got to Kileys, we unloaded the bikes and parked them in front the shop. Within 15 minutes, Kevin rolls out his (award winning) CB750 and parks right next to me. I started bustin his chops about "why he had to park there and make my shit look bad". We had a good laugh about it, and he jokingly moved his bike to the other side of the door. Within another 15 minutes, Junior rolls up and does the same damn thing!. So I give him a joking ration of crap, only he refuses to move... asshole
tongue.gif
Later on Thursday evening, I'm walking through the shop and I hear "Redbird!... Redbird!". I look over and Junior is standing there with this giant grin, flippin me off! THIS was the setting for the rest of the weekend. No matter where I parked, Juniors bike was right there. Saturday, my bike was in the DTT "inside" booth, Juniors was up the hill in the Café show. I think I told him something like Nannynannybooboo, I got an exclusive spot. A few hours later, Junior comes walkin out the tunnel with that same giant grin on his face. He walks right up to me and says "I just parked my bike in the tent too" Me, "Aw c'mon, You did not! Junior, "Yup. Jammed it right in front of yours so no one can see it" Me, "C'mon, Really?!" Junior, "Yup
cheesy.gif
"
So I walk back throught the tunnel, up to the DTT booth, and I see this...
park3_zpsba17c736.jpg

THIS was my entire weekend. My bike "peeking" out from behind Juniors
rolleyes.gif

But I did get revenge!! When he returned from the Awards ceremony Saturday night, he rode right past me and parked on the other side of the Garage. Why? I have no idea. I can only imagine that his head was so swole up that his helmet was cutting off the circulation. But before he could pry his helmet off, I pushed my bike right up in front of his, slapped the kickstand down, spun around and flipped him off!!! He was laughing in his helmet when he saw me coming. It was the best.
And I took this...

Can you see Juniors bike behind mine? EXACTLY!!!

P.S. I think this pic just about sums up the weekend...

Wow....Much like last year at this time I am still trying to wrap my head around the past weekend. Barber's is what Barber's always has been,,,,awesome. However, every year this little shin dig known as "Mama Tried" continues to completely blow me away! Each year I keep thinking it can't get any better next year, and again I was wrong. After seeing old friends once again, and making new ones, I am sitting here today with a feeling that is too good to describe. The only bad part of the weekend was missing those that could not make it this year. I have to give a big thanks to each and every person there for making this the highlight of my year. Till next time, Jared.
