Do you miss your center stand?

I removed my center stand to fit my aftermarket exhaust system and I'm about to remove my hacked up side stand as well. In the garage I use a pair of Pit Bull stands for servicing. I figure when I take the bike out for a ride I'll just lean it against a building or whatever if I need to park it somewhere.

are you serious? do you only ride once a month? sometimes people make mods that seem kind of crazy to me, this is definitely one of those. not to tell you what to do, but don't!

sorry, none of my biz I guess.

I had to remove the center stand when I added a braced swingarm.
Luckily the arm came with spools to use a rear stand.

I've read that a bike will sit, parked, more solidly on the side stand than the center stand.
Just info for the one above who parks using the center stand while kids are playing arounf the bike.

Whatever you do, don't remove the center stand from the GL at all...regardless of any fractional weight savings on such a heavy bike, it's suggested by most in the know to always park a GL on it's center stand. Parking on the side stand will let fluids accumulate on one side of the horizontally opposed engine. Vertical engines, no problem, but with the GL, it needs to be parked at a level, to reduce potential damages. I always park my GL on the center stand.

Thats a good point on my GL. When I got it the left front cyl was siezed because the PO stored it outside on the side stand... and I don't think the 10 lbs weight would make any difference after I have have already removed 100+ pounds of fairing, fenders, lights, and shit.
On the CB I have already removed the rotten mufflers that had the rubber pad to stop the center stand when it's up so I will probably remove it.... but keep it and the shaft to pop in with a hitch pin for repairs.

im not strong enough to pull my gs550 onto its center stand anyway. :-\

It's more in the technique than strength. I have seen big guys jerk on the handle bars till their arms are gonna pop out of the sockets, and smaller guys do it standing next to their bike making it look easy.
I do the big GL1100 buy straddleing the bike, holding the frame rails under the seat with both hands, planting my feet, left one on the center stand and lift with my legs. the CB350 is a piece of cake after that... not to bad once you figure it out.

On my 175, it can actually be tricky to get it OFF the centerstand because it's so lightweight. On any other bike, you just push it forward a little bit and the stand will flip up but on this little thing it will "slide" on the pavement.

It all depends what you're gonna do with it. My SR500 if and when i ever finish it will have no centre stand. If it needs to be on the cntre stand it's because it's getting serviced at home, in which case i'll weld up a frame stand for it to sit on. The Bastard Tourer CX500 on the other hand is bloody heavy and the last thing i want is to pick it up after it falls of the side stand. It almost always lives on the centre stand and there's no way it'll be getting ditched.

I was going to ditch mine the other day then I got a flat front tire....I would have been pissed...i ended up using that and a combo of my jack....so Im going to hang onto it for awhile

there are some good points plus and minus about keeping it and ditching it. personally I ditched my side stand. I was not looking for weight savings cause I don't race the thing and 4 more lbs on my bike does not really matter in the bigger picture.
I like having my center stand and, like some of you have said. they are there to do service on my old girl it's very handy.
