Well, I picked this thing up tonight. Buying a CT90 was most certainly not on my list of things to do today, but alas...
Looks to me like it may have been raced at one point. Someone added all sorts of bits like an oil cooler, pit bike fender, and what looks like a Honda SS50 or S90 tank that is actually pretty clean inside. Most of the stuff is half assed (the tank is mounted with angle iron) but it looks kind of cool as is....well maybe not the headlight.
It has spark, compression is at 120. Carb is soaking tonight and I need to pick up a new can of carb cleaner but my guess is this thing will fire right up. This thing may end up being the little sister to the Van Van for trail running.
Not sure if the dipstick is from a different model, but it has a piece of rubber hose slipped over it with a notch. The oil level is just below the notch, so I assume that's where they were running it. Only thing I can think of for changing the amount of oil in the crankcase would be to slightly increase it for the added volume of the oil cooler. The notch is about 3/4" lower than the end of the dipstick.
This machine has a clutch lever. Would the semi-auto or automatic clutch have a clutch lever? I believe it was a centrifugal setup. I am not familiar with the semi-auto at all.
I think the shift lever in the case of the semi-auto is on double duty as a clutch lifter, so the beginning part of the throw is akin to pulling the clutch lever... Correct me if I'm wrong.
Here is a pic of a stock CT90K1. I am thinking this has been modified. Guess the only way to know for sure is to test ride it
