Don't enjoy the ride.

I love both, but I think I like wrenching more.
I finished my 350 and rode it for a while then I had to sell it because my life is miserable without a project. I'm so much more upbeat and happy when I have a couple hours a day of wrench time.

My next project on the sidecar is to drill for safety wiring 20 nuts. Bolts I don't mind drilling but nuts drive me nuts. I have a good stock of 1/16" bits. Probably will need them all. Its one of those jobs that make racing a whole lot more appealing than wrenching.

Lol I spent about 2 hours drilling bolts on my first race car before I gave up and just bought them pre-drilled

Ha, I jsut found this thread and I know how everybody feels. I need to both wrench and ride. I ride as much and as long as I can, then spend the winter wrenching. I need it to not get depressed in the winter. This winter might have been bad too, I sold the 450 for a new fridge and the GL was totally re-done last winter and only needs a few maintenance things, then the dad in law bought a beater CX500 and told me to make it run and look better so I am golden, I get to wrench for my sanity and I don't have to spend my money! You need to find someone to wrench for and you get the best of it all.

Not drilling bolts. Drilling nuts! Bolt you can do 'til the cows come home.

Why is it hard? A drill press with a vice should make quick work of it :)
Never done it, but I did stay in a holiday in express last night

I didn't have a drill press at the time, this was 1980 and I was living to race my car. I had a hand drill and guide to drill with.

if I moved away from Angeles crest I could see not having as much of an interest. Hell I used to drive Angeles crest a lot and since moving to Miami from LA (7 years ago almost) I've given up enjoying 4 wheels. I take two wheels everywhere rain or shine (mostly rain in the summer) because driving cars sucks so bad here. When my motorcycle is down for maintenance, or most recently due to some idiot stealing my license plate and bracket, I take my bicycle. The only 4 wheels I like anymore are made of urethane. From an artists perspective, much like bike building, I enjoy the process of creating more than the creation itself, however I leave the dissatisfaction to the wayside and allow myself to enjoy the finished product. If I always have to be on the next thing, I fear I'd regret not taking the time to enjoy what is present.

With bolts you drill straight through the flat on the head to the other side. Piece of cake. With nuts you go in at a 45 deg. angle in order to drill through to the flat beside it. I know there is a tool that makes it a lot easier but I don't have one.
