Sup everyone!

Im having a predicament with the taillight on the roller. I bough one of those cat-eyes on ebay but it is very not DOT. As for inspection on a 27 year old bike, how crucial are they? Otherwise does anyone know of a good resource to get a DOT approved fender mount taillight? I'm thinking of putting one in the seat but thats a last resort. Thank you everyone.

I suppose it depends on where you live. In Texas, I had no problems with that same light.

I ran the same taillight here in OH, 'cept the side mount version. Never caught any flack over it.

DOT standards are there for a reason: so people can see where you are. Remember, rear lighting isn't there for you, but rather for the idiot that's behind you.

If you're comfortable with it, go for it, but if that idiot behind you can't see when you brake, then take heed.

LOL... mine wasn't with the tail light... with me, they couldn't see the massive DOT approved headlight on my GS (8" me think...).

There are DOT rules for lighting? I have to be fine with a Ducatti tail light but is a 5 3/4 headlight in violation? hmm.... wear do i find this out? In MI I thought I just needed a headlight, taillight, brakelight, muffler, permanantly mounted seat, and one mirror.
