Drink of choice?? What kind? Whiskey? Beer? Scotch? Wine perhaps?

This was a bittersweet moment here at my place:

My personal favorite after a rough day at the office...
And the perfect St Patricks Day combo...
1 pint of Guinness and one shot (...or two or three or...) of Tullamore Dew Whiskey.

i have never tried irish whiskeys. maybe because they seem to be more expensive than the other whiskeys. what are some of the best irish whiskeys that are affordable???

Last week was a Shock top/blue moon clone of my own creation. Was supper smooth with a sweet/spicy up front taste and finished like an orange.

This week is a dark brown ale styled after moose drool. Its super smooth and rich like a cup of good coffee mixed with caramel with a flowery after taste from the hops.

Next week is a red ale style after a red from either England or Ireland. Not really done yet but the testers Friday were excellent, needs another week or so to age.

Week after that will be a California Steam beer. Sitting there bubbling away in its fermenter, smells like a good one, tasted great on last test.

Then there's Multi-grain style red from Northern Brewer that is stilling next to the Steam beer bubbling away. Had a really interesting spice taste and texture on transfer from primary to secondary. Probably from the Rye.

On deck after all that is a Dead Guy IPA, has almost 10 lbs of malt at about a pound of hops. Should be about 7-8% when done and good enough to appease the IPA snobs. Not even started it but it will be brewed next Thursday.

If you haven't figured out I brew my own and I have a wide taste, no beer is bad to me, some just are better than others. All of the batches turn out over 5% most end up about 6-7%.

And if you counted all that, there's something like 20 gallons of beer in my house right now that I have maybe $150 in. 5-10 of which is drinkable currently. What will I do? ;D

i like trying different micro brews but alot of them have been really nasty tasting...

Don't know what yer lat-long is, but right now the Likbo in my (Ontario, Canada) village has Lowenbrau original, 500ml cans on special.
An excellent pairing with Jaegermeister bitters shots, though it does get a bit confusing eventually - is it a Jaeger with a Lowy chaser or a Lowy mit ein Jaeger fin?
Enjoy Oktoberfest - almost any German beer is pretty good. Coincidentally, its Thanksgiving up here in Canada, just finishing up a few CF and 'glass parts in the shop and then have to blast up to the house and into the kitchen to do an early Thanksgiving supper for the family (got a kid on the evening shift).

Hard stuff: Jameson for whiskey, Jack Daniels for bourbon, Cuervo for tequila, Captain Morgans for when I'm being cheap.

Beers: Guinness or any other good stout, most IPAs. I'm not a lager, pilsner, or lite beer fan. The last bock I had was a triple bock, not sure what that was about, it tasted like soy sauce. I'm trying Rolling Rock tonight, haven't had it in a while.

Others: Hard apple ciders are great when out grilling in the summer heat. No wine coolers for me, I have a bad association with them.

God I love Scotch. Balvenie 21...KaChing. I bet that WAS bittersweet. I love me some single malt, scotch and soda, gin and tonic, straight gin, porters, stouts, occasionally an IPA, when im with the old man its Milwaukees best or High life. Im a raging alcoholic.
and I LOVE cigarettes.

Beer: Stone Brewery, Boulder Brewing Co, Magic Hat, Cigar City Brewery, Yuengling, Abita.

Whiskey: Crown Reserve, Crown XR

Whisky: I have a couple bottles of Macallan 25. They have, and will last me years.

Rum: Pyrat

Tequila: Avion, Cabo Wabo, 1800, Patron

Vodka: Ciroc, Grey Goose

Drink of choice, is a tie: Crown XR on the rocks with two lemons, Ciroc Red Berry on the rocks. Those are the go-to's when I go out.

Stella Artois (known as wife beater in the UK) or Strongbow cider or if I am feeling nostalgic mix the two 50/50 with a shot of blackcurant (snakebite). Always move on to JD when I am full ;)

Can't drink, very bad shit happens, not good at all. Haven't done it in 17 yrs. Because of where I live I may try an alternate libation. Cough.

Jäger if I remember I'm still a college student, if I forget I'm in college I drink Johnnie Walker Red.

Tequila: Espolon Gold all the way.
Vodka: Absolut, cheap and decent
Rum: Sailor Jerry
Beer: I'll pass, don't have the palate for it and I have to drink to much to feel anything. It's so filling as well and I don't want to get fat to early :)
