Drive Chain question

Coast to Coast
I purchased new drive chain and am unsure on how much tension is needed with setting the rear wheel and mounting the chain. I have ride and have built bicycles but am not sure on a motorcycle.

Also, how do you make sure that the rear wheel is in line with the front wheel when you tension the chain and reinstall the wheel?

The most accurate way to adjust a drive chain is to line up centers of sprocket, swing arm and rear axle.
You'll probably have to compress suspension and remove sprocket cover
That puts chain at tightest point of suspension travel and takes into account swing arm change or different length shocks
Rotate wheel and check for tight spots then set to about 10mm (3/8") at tightest position

Also, there should be small notches on the swingarm near each end of the axle. Make sure that the left and right sides of the axle are lined up off the notches.
