Driving me nuts: Headlight sliding down w/stalk turn signals

Coast to Coast
Alright, needing some tips on keeping my bucket in place while using stalk turn signals. They do thread in the bucket then a nut threads onto the stalk. But with the rubber bushing on the stalk it doesn't have enough clamping force to keep it tight.

I really don't want to relocate the turn signals. Thoughts?

Tighten it?
If it's at the end of the threads put a washer on the inside to give you a little more clamping force.

I've tightened it and turned the turn signal as much as it will go without breaking it.

I'll try the washer.

Lock washer?

Yeah you can put a lock washer between the headlight bucket and the headlight ear, that should hold it I would think. Will scratch your headlight bucket though.

I am running a small lock washer, but the problem is that with turning the signal without breaking it is tough. It threads in so far and I use a rag and pliers to gently turn it some more. Then use the nut on the inside to sandwich it together. Yet it's still not enough force to consistently keep the headlight in place for long rides. It will eventually work down slightly.

The lock washer is on the inside of the bucket. I'd rather not have one on the outside due to aesthetics and like you said, risk scratching the bucket.

I would put a rubber washer between the bucket and the mount and after tightening should keep it from rotating.

No exposed metal on the signal outside to get a wrench on?
If it were me I would hit the nut inside with my little 20v impact driver and get it tight, that way youre not putting a lot of force on the turn signal itself while you turn it.
You'll likely need a long extension and a U joint.

I'm surprised the turn signal stalks don't have flats to put a wrench on. Most of the ones I've seen do.

I have aftermarket signals on my KZ. I have the factory rubber bushing thats diamond shaped in the hole on the headlight. Rubber washers on each side of that, flat washers on each side of those and only a lockwasher on the nut side inside the headlight. Havent had any issues.

I'm running aftermarket signals and headlight.

I know what you mean on the diamond shaped hole and bushings.

On mine the bolt turns inside the turn signal preventing tightening. If you have enough sticking into the bucket, you could grind flats at the end of the bolt to hold onto with a wrench.

You'll probably have to re-shape clamp slightly and use 'the other' mounting slot.
Piece of inner tube wrapped around fork will also help.

I still have the factory headlight. Sorry about that - yours looked like an oem.
