Dropped piston on concrete smh

So while cleaning a cm400 piston, I'll be damned if it didn't slip right out of my hands and hit the floor. Is this thing totaled or is it something I could burnish smooth? Trying to attach a picture. Getting a system error: try again later. I'll try from my laptop

use a file gently JUST enuf to remove any HIGH spots
then if it still slides in the bore it should be ok
if it doesnt slide in the bore it is probably a bent skirt :'(
did it land on the skirt edge?

landed right on the exhaust side corner

no worries there :D that area is pretty strong just gently reomove the hi spot and make sure the ring still fits ;D

whatever you do don't go polishing them or using a wire wheel on the sides or grooves
yes and look for cracks around the pin to skirt area

Besides that ding, be sure to have a good look around for any small cracks that may have happened, especially in the skirt area. Look on the outside and inside.

Right on, thanks a lot. No polishing here. Just cleanin with some brillo and brass brush

never brillo pad or wire brush the sides or grooves
as long as the rings are not carboned up and stuck all you want to do is wash them not scrub
