DTT Barber Build 2012

It wasn't answered a page back but the stock peg mounts for a CB on the left side should be pretty much the same, they have the kickstand mounted to them. I actually have a spare set of mounts that I got when I bought my 450s you are welcome to. I might even part with a complete center stand and the pivot bolt for it and the brake peddle as well, I'm working on getting another parts bike and I will know more about that in a week.

Lemme know either way, show's still a ways off I might try to make it this year.

Thanks frogman. I knew at the very least the brake pedal is different, but not sure what else. We will see what Kiley wants to get rid of and go from there.

Ill get rid of all of it. I'll get some pics today, but they're just stock pegs and brackets from a cb. You're right, they are different though, I know Troy went through all of this with willow with the weird differences between the cb and the cl.

Mike,

I have a 2.5" Diameter speedo. It has a black face and is chrome on the outside. I replaced it with one that had indicator lights built in so I could remove the "dash" panel on mine. I will snap a pic later if you are interested. It is in excellent shape!

Mothgils, Let me see a pic. The smaller the better. I'd like to clean up the upper triple area like on that 450 pic I posted, but would also like a speedo. I'm not very good at judging my speed on a bike. A tach I can do without.

Treck97, got the bars last night. They look great. Thanks! Not sure how you got them in that tube. :)

Hey mothgills... If Mikes not down w that speedo, shoot me a price. (Sorry for the thread jack :) )
yea and if both mikes arnt down with it shoot me a price

Yay! Got the bike started tonight. Ran ok until the bowls dried up (I just filled the carb bowls instead of putting the tank on).

Time to start disassembly, well as much as I can do with one arm. My dad said he would come over an help me do the rest once I couldn't do anymore.

That'll do sir, that'll do. Should be able to stuff that down behind the headlight somehow. I will just have to figure out where to put my idiot lights.

I just ordered the LEDs for the front turn signal design we discussed. Going to need to mock it up with some posterboard or something then I will get someone in my office to draw it up for you. Will follow up with a PM.

Thank you sir!

Let meer know of any pre fabrication stuff you need. I can weld, etc, and would be glad to get it sorted between building the shop and work.

Hmmmm, Ill have to think about that one. If you are going to make it to the GTG, we can discuss it then.

Fab work I can think of right now (not all can be done ahead of time):
speedo bracket
Electrics tray (under seat)
Seat Pan
Rear Frame Hoop
License plate bracket
Taillight Bracket (Maybe)
Remove rearset posts
Fix Frame dent

I spent a couple hours last night taking stuff off of the bike. While I was doing that, I snapped some pictures to help us layout the plans for the build. These pics can be used as a base for any sketches or photoshopping to be done. (I tried to get a plain light background and get good side shots. The first set are without a tank. The second set are with the 350f tank I have.

A couple things to keep in mind. The shift arm is backwards and will go back to stock position. You can see the gouge on the alternator cover where it will go. Also, I was thinking of lowering the bike. I have some short shocks to put on the back and would get the front lowered to match.

For the seat, I was thinking of cutting the frame off just behind the shock mounts and welding in a loop that is angled up as in the inspiration pic I posted earlier.

You will have to ignore the clipons and the light would of course be higher than that. I put the drag bars on so you could get an idea of where they will be.

Also, I was thinking about making a battery box that mounts down where the toolbox does, just above the swingarm pivot.
