Ducati 900ss

An interesting project, the tank looks a little tall to me, I assume to clear the battery and airbox... did you consider moving the battery and replacing the std airbox with individual pods (K&N etc) ? That's what the likes of Radical Ducati do on their specials based on the same platform.

As you say the tank is about an inch higher, with hindsight it might have looked better with a flush fitting fuel cap, but a bit late now. The fuel cell on the Baines bike only held 12 litres, so I wanted to improve on that. Haven't filled the tank to the top yet, but it will hold over 3 gallons.
I had thought about removing the airbox, but decided to keep things standard if possible, for reliability as much as anything.
I'm assuming the bike will run a little lean, due to the Conti silencers. So will have the ECU remapped.
The only change to the wiring is a few connectors for the rear light/indicators.

Got a little bit done over the last few weeks.
Picked up a few parts from the powder coaters, and made a good start on painting/polishing the engine.

Finished the polishing, fitted a Newfern clutch, and thrown a few parts on.

Spent the last few days in the shed. The front brakes, and clutch bled easily enough, but the rear brake proved to be more of a challenge.

That looks phenomenal. I really like the frame in black, it seems to blend in (in a good way) rather than stick out like the original sore, golden thumb. Great work all around.

Took the SS out for a test ride, and MOT yesterday. Ran really well, and nothing fell off, which was a bonus.

Well, when I started reading this from the beginning I thought it was going to be butchery of a perfectly fine late duke.
I was wrong.
Top job, looks bloody lovely.

Thanks Mark/Erskine.
While riding home this morning, from having the ECU remapped, started thinking that I wouldn't be overly bothered if this bike doesn't sell. The only problem is the wife would be.

Don't sell it!

Unfortunately need to sell, to fund the next project. Although saying that, I wouldn't mind taking it to the Copdock show in October.
