Dying bike help.

Hi guys, looking for help. My bike has dicided to die on me at the worst possible moments. It'll be running fine, then loose all power and die. Or I'll out coming to the lights, changibg down, loose power and it'll die. Or I'll be sitting at the lights, put it into gear, pull away and it'll die.

Now I'm not much of a mechanic but its got fuel, got spark, turns over OK after it dies but won't restart - almost like its flooded but its not. Sometimes I can get it restarted. Sometimes I'll almost run the batt flat trying to restart it, others it won't go it all... So I end up pushing it home. Thank Christ its not a HD Glyde!

Anyway... Its been ported and drilled. But I'm not sure if that's the issue. Doesn't seem to overheat - although I'm thinking about installing a temp gauge. Choke doesn't seem to effect the issue - tried all options there...

To quote a wise gentleman "Its got me fucked"

Please.. .Help!!!!

Allright I be the first to ask. It obviously NOT an hd glide...So...What the hell kind of bike is it?

considering he posted in the skyteam ace board im guessing thats what it is :D

Rob, try wigglling the key and wires arounf the ignition barrel , thats a cheap easy place to start. next is the kill switch connection on the handle bar, a multimeter comes in handy too.

seems to be during a lot of clutch lever action. Check to make sure your clutch cable isnt, tied to, or tugging on a loosely connected wire somewhere.

Also, look at your throttle cable. for the same thing.

I dont know anything about the carbs on those but it could be lean condition at the idle or pilot circuit. If it even has those.

My cb360 would die when idling down to a stop and hesitate on take off. it was a clogged pilot jet.

This happened to me too. The screw that had been used to block the hole in the carb after removing all the egr stuff had loosened and fallen out. Replaced that and have had no problems since.

Yeah, Adam mentioned the screw. Its still there 2b. I'll look at the other stuff and let you know. Thanks... Hopefully!

Not sure of the bike still but you might check the fuel cap breathing hole. One of my bikes would run then stop and be hard to re start all because the PO had sealed off the fuel cap breathing port in an effore to reseat the cap.

Thanks for all the advice. Tried everything suggested but still no joy. I'll take it in tomorrow and see if an expert can find the issue.

Oh, it is an Ace BTW. With less than 100'ks on the clock. That's kilometres for those who live in strange places ;)

Turns out the ports were over drilled and it was basically flooding. All fixed now... I hope
