Dyna coils yah or nah?

I have to get new coils because mine are worthless, but I am wondering if buying $125 coils is a waste of money and if they even will help more performance, I know they will help with kickstarts and make it start with less kicks? Thanks for your help and experiences.

I put them on my cb550F with the dyna ignition plate and it works pretty good, even after sitting out side after a cold night starts right up

for what bike?

either way you need to get OEM ohms or run a resistor to make lower ohm coils work to the best

Oh I guess thats kinda important, haha, its a cb360, I think I will just get the $14 ones that frogman showed me a while ago, just wondering if dyna coils were a big improvement, or if they just make it easier to start.

they are a big improvement when used with other parts to make a total package.

on a stock bike its probably not worth the money

when you say stock do you mean motor i take it? im doing the same thing on a XS500 and was going to go with Dyna everything to get the best out of it ! is it not worth the +s to go with a nice set of Elec ignition, coils etc.....?

I'm all for performance, but I also like to save a buck when I can. I got a set of those aluminum cased ones you can find on z1 enterprises. Had to build a simple mount for them but at 14 bucks a piece I figured I could try them out. Whole mess of coils and wires and caps I think cost me about 40-45$ total. They have more than enough juice to make your arm go numb for an hour if you screw up and grab them wrong. Bike starts first kick, or spin of the e-start, I'm still running factory ignition and all. Made a MAJOR difference over the 32 year old originals. Just my thought on the idea.

I fit DYNA 5 ohm coils and DYNA s triggers to everything and love the huge fat sparks. Of course, for years I raced a methanol burning super high compression Honda CB77 with stock 30 YO coils and points and never had much trouble starting it once I could get it turned over.

Many ignition problems are caused by crappy connections, corroded switches and poor fuse connections compounded by really bad grounds. Take care of those and that will make a huge difference. I'll still keep fitting DYNA coils and triggers though - just to be sure.

Just ordered a pair of those Z1enterprise coils, thanks guys, they are aluminum too? could polish them and show them off. but then there would be empty space up where the tank is, Thanks frogman again. U think u could snap a quick pic of your set up, i would appreticate it a lot, if its a problme, no biggy, u helped me enough, Thanks again.

Mounts are leftover aluminum stock I had laying around. I used shorter bolts with extra nuts behind them to space them off the frame. I cut the oil wires off the oil coils and used them for the new ones.

Wow you made those fit perfect. Thanks a ton, it would have took me a while to figure out a solution, I get brain farts on this kind of stuff. I excited to get them. How did you get your valve cover so clean? I am thinking about sand blasting mine just to get it clean instead of spending 4 days polishing small cramed spots. Thanks again been a true help!

I scrubbed the hell out of the entire engine and painted it high temp silver.
