Electronics -safe under the seat?

snmavridis

Gettin my life together. One bolt. At a time.
Is it really safe to stuff the electronics under the seat? I imagine between the wiring, rectifier, regulator, switch etc it could get hot under the seat. Is hiding the electronics under a seat really safe or is it an overheating hazard waiting to happen?

Asking for a friend...

As far as I know the only component that really gets hot enough to worry about (in my system anyways) is the regulator/rectifier. Which is why I mounted it slyly under the seat hidden behind the frame, but in open air so it can get some airflow.

Those items have been there since the creation of motorcycles. They would have been moved by now if a move was needed.

I mean more along the lines of the R/R getting airflow. They don't have fins on them for nothing! The fins are characteristic of heat dispersion which leads me to question putting them in a metal box under my seat with little airflow.

+1 on the R/R getting airflow. Put mine all tucked away at first, smoked it, now its in the open, all the rest can get jammed in anywhere.
