EMGO shorties...how loud are they?

I'm trying to decide between a pair of the EMGO 12" shorties and some Sportster mufflers for my CB750F. My main concern is attracting too much attention when riding in Denver and getting a ticket. Would the shorties be pretty loud?

If you rewrap the baffles inside the shorties with proper packing, they are tolerable. As-is they will definitely get peoples' attention.

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. I'll keep looking for some shorter sportster takeoffs.

Yep.. It's been a couple decades, but when I lived up there they had noise traps at every tunnel and bridge (don't know if they still do) they would definitely trigger those. I have a set on my Triumph, I short shift through neighborhoods not to set off car alarms...

I've heard of guys tack welding washers in them to reign them in a bit. They look great, but are pretty loud.

I found some good info on Sporty mufflers over on a Suzuki Savage website.

I had the emgo shorties, they were way too loud. I fixed em by putting $3 B&S style lawn mowere mufflers in, then I drilled those to get a little better flow but a lot less noise. Better solution is to just buy better pipes LOL but I had the shorties, they were free on a parts bike I bought.

I used to worry about noise but with the amount of rice burners on the streets, there are plenty of wannabe tuners to attract all the attention. But I still agree with the rest. I have the shorty on my CM and it's tolerable, but then again on a 750, and without anymore packing I bet it would be loud as hell.
