so having my engine cases and barrels blasted for my xs900 project, would like a wrinkle finish on it
should i primer the bare alloy first or just put the wrinkle finish straight onto the cases?
I would think that all bare metal surfaces would need to be primed before painting. Get a self etching primer or at least one that directs you to put it over bare metal. Example: The duplicolor engine enamel primer is not labled "Self Etching" but on the directions it does direct you to apply over bare metal. I would have to assume that this would be the correct procedure for this paint since it is manufactures recommendation. At least that is what I am currently following.
after i got mine all cleaned and ready i used self etching primer then wrinkle paint and work very nicely . only thing i would say about the wrinkle is to get the right look it needs to be warm. i did a few parts and did come out the same and had to redo a few parts to get it right. start slow just a dusting then work your way up to thicker coats....
