Engine swap 1978 gs 400!

The Suki`s of this year and model are difficult to find elsewhere than ebay,and if i shop for more than 50$ it cost me 5 times the price to get it over the seas.

I`ve doing some tlc with the engine and found out that it had a 5 inch crack crossover underneath the whole thing :'(
And it doesent stop there,my rear/front hub and most of the spokes allso have seen their better days.

Anyone out here who can tell me if i can fit an early 90`s gs 500 twin to this one,and would it be overkill to use VFR 1000 forks and weels on it?

Can't help about the motor, but check out All Balls Racing. They have a list of compatible front end swaps and the bearings needed.

Have been checking it out. nice site, but i`we changed motor 2 day foa a fully restored 450ccm.
And there are eternity for me untill spring,so i dont wanna rush with anything.
Have a delivery of one and a half vf 1000 that i bougt a time back so its gonna be a buzzy sunday.....

I think it would be rad to see a VF1000 front end on a GS400. You should do it!

In case you were wondering....


The GS500 motors will not fit in the 400/450 frames because the straighter exhaust ports on the 500 motor sit right in front of the downtubes on the 400/450 frames.

I think it would be rad to see a VF1000 front end on a GS400. You should do it

The VF Idea is gone with the wind,but i traded it for a gsxr 600 trackbike, so it will be this frontend thats going to be fitted.
I am looking for some 2-1 exhaust but thats fucking expensive. 1300,-$thats the wildest pricetag ever..
