Ever get the itch for a "modern" bike?

Picked up my brand new Bonneville today! Only put a few miles on her but I'm looking forward to cruising around and breaking her in this weekend.

Very nice. I'm still looking for a localish dealer. Need to see it in person to pull the trigger.

What about a 2004 CB900F (919)?

A friend of mine "accidentally" bought one on ebay after a few glasses of wine. He's having it delivered to my house since he'll be out of the country that week.
I've looked at these before. They're "standards", look nice, etc. My only complaint was a hard seat. And it's a four, but modern.

uh what's the matter with a four they freakin scream. That is a nice bike albeit proportionally a little weird.

Nothing. I have three CB500/550's in the garage right now.

BUT...if you go all the way back to page one, you'll see I was initially interested in a twin for ease of maintenance, torque, etc.

Was that the silver one from Michigan?

Ahhh, you want a twin. I only read the title, not the first post. Anyway, consider a VTR1000f Superhawk. Comfortable, can probably get Givi's for it, half fairing, about 10 years old. Sorry, if someone already mentioned it. I didn't want to read 19 pages (20 now, ha! ;D)

I have been neglecting photos. In my defense I've been out riding :)

Here's another instaglam shot. I'll try and get some better ones soon.

So far I'm going to leave her stock (other than the Tacho upgrade that I already had put on) until break in. After that I'll probably do a rear fender delete, relocate all turn signals, wrap the pipes, ditch the lollipops in favor of some bar ends, get the seat cowl for solo days, drill out the mufflers for a better sound. She purrs kinda docile like. I'll see if I can upload the video I took yesterday.

Alright, I uploaded a shitty iphone video to flickr. If it's not available it's "processing" so come back in a little bit. If it works....Good for you.

beaty of a ride man. I like the rear fender but that's just my preference. And for the love of god don't wrap perfect brand new pipes it makes no sense. Or do it;'s your bike but I always think when people wrap pipes it's because they are ugly

I have always had sport bikes...love the speed and agility...I currently have an 02 gsxr 1000 that I use for drag racing..Did some head work cams etc over the winter....Now it wont fire :'(...no idea whats wrong...lol....Picked up a free CB 350F from a friend that had been sitting since 1986, still had the tag on it...had it running with minimal effort...go figure...the older stuff is alot easier to work on...both are great..when they are running...

I personally don't like the blueing of the pipes and the chrome with the rest of it being blacked out. I could paint it (and may one day) but the wrap is such an iconic mod for an iconic bike that it's hard to let go of the idea. Know what I mean?

Every time I get the itch for a modern bike I end out spending wayyy more than it's worth CBR1300 engine stuffed in a CBR1000 frame and made to appear relatively stock

I just found this thread, and without time to read all 20 pages (kids chatting in my ear at the moment) I will say that I LOVE my 09 ER6n. I have a set of First Gear soft bags that need no hardware to mount up, front strap under the seat, rear strap over the seat and they sit perfect on the bike, and I can carry about 4 bags of groceries home if I need to. I bought it new in April 2010 and other than a set of tires at about 5K miles I've done nothing to it but change the oil and lube the chain.

I've been trying to put miles on the new Bonne to break her in. My CL 350 was looking a little neglected. So I hopped of the Bonne and onto CL and WOW.

The apples to apples riding differences between the old and the new stood out.

Acceleration was slower, handling was chunky, lots more vibration than I remembered.

Even with all that, I still had a smile on my face riding down the road.
