Has anyone used 2 Stroke Wizard Tuned Pipe software from www.buildandclick.com If so is it easy to use, is it any good? I want to build my own pipes for my GT500 suzuki and would like to use some kind of software to get it right but I also don't want anything that is so technical I have to take a class to learn to use it! Anybody used anything that is reasonably simple?
I have not used that software by i use MOTA and BIMOTION at around 20-300 bucks a pop and they generate very different pipes which work very differently and using MOTA simulation software suggests that the motor will respond very differently to different designs.
Freebie S/w tends to make assumptions that are not always appropriate. For example modern motors have huge transfer and boost ports and pipes literally suck gas out of the bottom end and use harmonics to make it all work.
Old seventies bikes with just two transfer ports and conservative port timing don't always respond the way that the S/W assumes. S/W also tends to assume a pipe temp that's too high and they don't always work well at such low BMEP levels.
Sad but true that an RGV 250 makes more power than a T500, so you can imagine that pipe parameters are a little different.
If you have ALL the engine dimensions I could run the simulations but I'd need port entry area, length and outlet area for all the ports plus radial and axial port outlet angles, primary CR, intake dimensions at each change in section, all port dimensions etc.
Or try the old school approach. Use freebie S/W and see how it runs and then tweak the belly section length if necessary to move power up or down the rev range. Almost anything will work differently to stock heavy pipes and may even make more power.
Ok Teaser thanks. I don't have all of the info on the engine yet, I still have to send it to Eric K. for porting. However when that is all done I may take you up on your offer. I do have Gordon Jennings two stroke tunning book which has exhaust info in it, maybe I'll take a look at that as it was written back in the seventies I think. It sounds like (from your explaination) that Jennings info may be more relevent to the T500 than the software I've looked at.
I did inquire about expansions from Swarbrick Racing in the Uk, they are sold as a kit (you have to weld all the pre-made cones together) but I couldn't justify spending what they were asking on pipes. If I can get the right (roughly) dimensions for the pipes building them is no problem and I can route them exactly how I want them.
Ok, thanks. I will talk to Eric. Do you know it the Swarbrick or Jemco pipes are any good? The bike will be used 95% on the track, I'm not much of a public roads rider!
