DGs are pretty basic and reasonably priced ($). My preference would be Spec11 ($$), Allspeed/Gibson ($$) or Jim Lomas ($$$) or perhaps Millenium ($$) and there's always Swarbrick which I fitted to an RD400. Awesome pipes ($$). They are short and fat and slide under the motor for a wicked look.
By definition, 2 stroke exhausts need volume to work properly. Short pipes don't work and small diameter pipes tend to have peaky power and not much of it. The thing about a 2 stroke is that the pipes will be large, so show them off. Make them a feature.
RD pipes will work on an R5 http://www.dgperformance.com/motorcycle-exhaust.php?dgID=608.
DG pipes are not the most exciting looking pipes but they are cost effective. Swarbrick by comparison are 350 pounds sterling (UK) plus shipping. Lomas are 434 to 710 pounds plus shipping. Gibson are 350 quid plus shipping and ugly DG are 300 bucks and they come from the US so shipping is cheaper too.
Stop the bus. I just checked SPEC2 and they appear to be the same price as DG. That is a bargain. Forget DG and check with Spec2 and see what the story is. http://www.spec2.com/chambers.html At that price they are the bargain of the year.
Spec2 offer a couple of designs, so check to be sure which you are getting. Anything that comes out of that shop is good though.
