facepalm - here we go again

forming sheet metal is different than making fiberglass, I probably can't even really explain the difference in process, it's so completely different it's like comparing building rockets to ice skating. the truth is that most people will never understand how their fiberglass parts are made, so it's fairly pointless trying to defend the work I do to build a good pattern

I agree with you Roc. Metal is something that would take so much time etc, and you aren't putting someone out of business with one piece that you probably made for yourself (being it's that much more effort!) Whereas you can make a mold for the fiberglass parts and shove them out one right after the other, and do a really crappy job too. I saw someone post about putting a logo or design into your seats that he doesn't have or something along those lines, like a manufacturers label so to speak. Your skill shows itself through your amazing glass and parts, keep at it, and that guy will move on to the next thing while you are still making legend (wait for it) ary stuff.

My main business is metal fabrication, mainly for off-road vehicles. Jeeps and such. In this marketplace it's extremely common for ideas to get ripped off, copied and sold for less. It's just how it works, and too often how the world works. If I got upset everytime someone stole one of my ideas and started making money from it I'd have no time to build anything new. It's not like you have a patent or a trademark on these things. Yes, you spent time on them and I understand your frustration, but the cold hard fact is that you're making something that has been made a thousand times before, and that you cannot control the duplication of.

Is the guy a douche? Fuck yeah.

Can you do anything about it? Fuck no.

Time to put on your big boy pants and be happy with the knowledge that the products you build are of a higher quality than theirs and make sure that you promote your brand accordingly. People that care WILL buy from you. Cheapskates that dont, probably wouldn't have bought from you to begin with. They would have gone to one of a hundred other ebay sellers.

Right on. Btw Roc, I just ordered your Bonneville seat from DCC cause I wanted your quality. I could have gone ebay but I didnt want a piece of crap. There are a lot of other people lookin for the same thing and you have a large amount of support from people in this communtiy that know and want that quality. There are also a lot of people that could care less, to each there own. I would def brand it and try to possibly trade mark it, that way if anything really serious came up you at least some legal leverage, otherwise just ignore the half-assers... I own my company too and as long as you do it right, you will see a steady growth of loyal followers while those who dont do it right will eventually fail and then they will try something else half-assed... but you will always be around as long as you do it right, which you are...

That being said, I ordered that seat a week ago and they said it takes 3-4 weeks for the seat to ship from you guys as its made to order. Damn my devotion to quality... :'(

I got lucky when I bought my seat, the model I wanted happened to be for sale on Roc City's eBay page so I didn't have to wait ;D

I have the Daytona from you, love it.. Though it is too wide so I have to skinny it up some. But i wouldn't ever claim its my custom seat! It's a RCC seat that I had to make thinner. El fin.
